CP Vietnam’s aquafeed plant in Ben Tre recently received the ASC Feed certification from Bureau Veritas Vietnam.
The certification is one of the most rigorous international benchmarks for responsible and sustainable aquafeed production.
The Ben Tre plant is the first in Vietnam, and among just 13 worldwide, to receive the certification, paving the way for greater access to high-standard markets like Europe, the US, and Japan.
Prasan Atimanon, Deputy General Director in charge of aquafeed production, said the certification marks a key step in the plant’s long-term growth and reflects CP Vietnam’s commitment to supporting Vietnam’s aquaculture sector in becoming more professional, responsible, and globally aligned.
Global benchmark
ASC Feed is a global benchmark to ensure that feed used in aquaculture is produced sustainably, transparently traceable, and with minimal negative environmental and social impact.
The certification outlines hundreds of strict criteria, including:
- ✅ clearly sourced and responsibly managed raw materials;
- ✅ carbon emissions reduction and natural resource conservation;
- ✅ food safety and animal health assurance; and
- ✅ rigorous social responsibility practices throughout the supply chain.
Innovation as a foundation for growth
Securing the ASC Feed certification required the Ben Tre plant to meet more than 260 strict criteria, spanning everything from supply chain transparency and environmental safeguards to workplace ethics and operational governance.
Building on CP’s robust raw material control system, the plant carried out a systematic, comprehensive, and science-based transformation to meet certification standards.
This involved reviewing all procedures, vetting suppliers, refining production processes, strengthening environmental monitoring, and training staff in line with international best practices.
In addition, the plant has adopted locally sourced sustainable fishmeal, promoting more resilient supply chains and supporting the responsible development of Vietnam’s domestic aquaculture industry.
