Vietnam’s Mavin Group recently held the groundbreaking ceremony of the Mavin Mai Son Animal Feed and Agricultural Processing Complex at Lot CN7, Mai Son Industrial Park, Chieng Mung commune in Son La province.

The ceremony was honored by the attendance of leaders from the Provincial Party Committee, the Standing Committee, the People’s Council, the People’s Committee of Son La Province, along with leaders of provincial departments, agencies, the Management Board of Industrial Parks, representatives of local communes and wards, as well as a large number of Mavin’s customers and strategic partners in the Northwest region.

Strategic project driving sustainable agricultural development

The Mavin Mai Son project, invested by Mavin Mai Son Co Ltd – a member of Mavin Group – covers an area of 109,579.3 sqm with a total capital of USD 13.30 million, comprising two key components:

This project is one of the main works to celebrate the 16th Congress of the Son La Provincial Party Committee, term 2025-2030.

It is identified as an important driver to help Son La:

The project also marks the beginning of Mavin Group’s investment journey in the Northwest, aiming to complete its closed agricultural value chain and contribute to building Son La into a livestock hub of the region.

Unlocking local potential with international standards

According to David John Whitehead, Chairman of Mavin Group, Son La possesses vast agricultural land and diverse climatic conditions favorable for livestock, poultry, and aquaculture.

In recent years, the province’s livestock production has grown steadily, particularly cattle, pigs, poultry, and raw material areas such as corn and cassava for feed production.

However, the added value remains limited, as most products are still in raw or small-scale processed forms.

The Mavin Mai Son project is designed to address these bottlenecks:

Building an integrated agricultural value chain

Founded in 2004, Mavin Group is a Vietnam-Australia joint venture and one of the few enterprises operating a fully integrated agricultural value chain covering animal feed, farming, veterinary pharmaceuticals, and food processing.

Its system of factories, farms, research centers, and distribution networks spans across many provinces, meeting demands from production to consumption.

Mavin Group is also a strategic partner of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) – a member of the World Bank Group. This partnership enables the group to access advanced technology, international management practices, and green, sustainable development models for large-scale projects nationwide.

“Mavin Mai Son marks the beginning of our expansion strategy in the Northwest. We are determined to close the value chain from feed production to farming and processing, and we look forward to working with Son La province to build it into the livestock hub of the Northwest,” said Mr Whitehead.

Modern and sustainable agricultural ecosystem

Following Mavin Mai Son, Mavin Group will continue to invest in large-scale, high-tech farming complexes, farmer partnership models, and eventually food processing plants, contributing to the formation of a modern, sustainable agricultural ecosystem in Son La and neighboring provinces.

The Mavin Mai Son Complex officially commenced on August 16, 2025, with the aim of bringing products to market, serving customers, and contributing to the province’s development from 2026 onwards.

With over 20 years of experience, strong support from international partners, and a commitment to sustainable development, Mavin Group believes that Mavin Mai Son will serve as a powerful catalyst for high-tech agriculture in Son La, opening a bright future for livestock production, agricultural processing, and food industries in the Northwest region.
