Norel, a global animal nutrition company, has opened its new production plant in Johor, Malaysia, marking an important milestone in its international expansion in the Asia Pacific region.

The plant’s opening ceremony recently brought together Norel employees from different countries, customers, partners, distributors, and distinguished guests, including Ambassador of Spain to Malaysia Sergi Farré Salvá, alongside government representatives from Johor and Singapore and representatives of research institutions in Johor.

With more than 45 years of experience, a presence in over 70 countries, and six production plants worldwide, Norel continues to strengthen its global operations and its commitment to the region.

During the opening ceremony, Francisco Moral, CEO of Norel, expressed his gratitude to customers, partners, distributors, and everyone who has contributed to the company’s growth. He gave special recognition to Norel’s nearly 300 employees worldwide, emphasizing that their dedication and teamwork have made the company’s expansion into Asia possible.

Mr Moral also thanked the Malaysian team for its hard work and commitment in making the new plant a reality. He described the new plant as a home for everyone connected to Norel and expressed his pride in what the company has achieved together.

The new plant’s capacity, products and certification

The opening of the Johor plant represents an important step in Norel’s long-term commitment to the Asian market. Beyond increasing production capacity, the new plant will strengthen the company’s global supply chain, improve regional product availability, and bring innovative animal nutrition solutions closer to producers throughout Asia Pacific.

The new plant has a production capacity of 10,000 tons per year and features four advanced production lines serving the poultry, swine, ruminant, aquaculture, and pet food industries.

The plant will manufacture gut health solutions, including sodium butyrate, medium-chain fatty acids (MCFA), and essential oils, as well as feed quality additives such as antioxidants, mold inhibitors, mycotoxin binders, pellet binders, flavors, and sweeteners.

The plant has already obtained FAMI-QS certification, demonstrating Norel’s commitment to feed safety and international quality standards.

The plant will support Norel’s commercial operations in Singapore and the Philippines while expanding product availability in markets such as Japan, Indonesia, Australia, and New Zealand.

Produced in Asia, for Asia

Rafael Calvo Pablos, General Manager of Norel, highlighted the importance of the new plant in bringing the company closer to customers across Asia.

He explained that local production will allow Norel to work side by side with customers and distributors, combining technical knowledge, innovation, and high-quality standards to meet regional market needs.

The investment reflects a clear strategy: “Produced in Asia, for Asia.”

It also strengthens Norel’s global manufacturing network, which includes facilities in Spain, the US, Mexico, Egypt, India, and Malaysia.
