Progressus successfully concluded the 2026 Layer Nutrition, Production & Management AgriSchool, bringing together layer professionals from nine countries across Asia for four days of technical learning, interactive discussions and hands-on workshops focused on the challenges of modern egg production.
Held from 21–24 September 2026 in Bangkok, the AgriSchool was developed in close collaboration with experts from H&N International and Big Dutchman, bringing together complementary expertise across layer production, flock management, nutrition, housing, ventilation, equipment and flock health.
Participants from countries including Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Pakistan, India and Nepal joined the program, creating a diverse learning environment where professionals could exchange experiences and compare approaches across different production systems.
Bringing technical knowledge closer to the farm
The four-day program combined classroom learning with interactive sessions, practical exercises, case discussions and hands-on workshops.
Participants explored key aspects of modern layer production, including flock management, nutrition, rearing, biosecurity, housing and ventilation, egg quality, farm efficiency and troubleshooting.
Interactive sessions encouraged participants to examine practical farm decisions, share their own experiences and consider different approaches to common production challenges.
This exchange of perspectives was an important part of the learning experience, allowing professionals from different markets to learn from both the experts and each other.
Hands-on learning in vaccination and necropsy
The program also included two dedicated practical workshops focused on flock health.
The Live Vaccination Workshop, led by Fernando Carrasquer, provided participants with practical exposure to vaccination programs and techniques, including hands-on practice with injection, eye-drop and nose-drop vaccination.
Separately, Niwat Chansiripornchai led the Necropsy Workshop, covering practical approaches to culling, sample collection and post-mortem examination.
These sessions allowed participants to move beyond classroom learning and strengthen practical skills that can be applied in their own operations.
Bringing together different areas of layer expertise
Experts from H&N International and Big Dutchman brought complementary perspectives to the program, covering areas across layer production, flock management, lighting, biosecurity, nutrition, housing, ventilation, equipment and manure management.
This combination allowed participants to consider layer production as an integrated operation, where flock performance is influenced by decisions across management, nutrition, health, housing and farm infrastructure.
From learning to farm-level action
Throughout the AgriSchool, participants were encouraged to connect the topics discussed with their own farm challenges. Workshops and group discussions provided opportunities to assess existing practices, explore alternative approaches and identify areas for improvement.
Yiannis Christodoulou, Managing Director of Progressus, said, “The value of an AgriSchool comes from bringing knowledge into a practical context. This year, we brought together experts from different areas of the layer industry and professionals from across Asia, creating an environment where participants could learn from both the specialists and from each other. We hope they return to their operations with new perspectives, practical ideas and a clearer understanding of where they can make improvements.”
Extending the learning with a feed formulation workshop
The learning continued beyond the core four-day program with an additional Feed Formulation Workshop for participants who wanted to explore layer nutrition in greater depth.
Led by Xabier Arbe Ugalde, the extension program provided a deeper look at practical feed formulation and gave participants the opportunity to work through formulation and diet evaluation exercises.
The additional day offered participants a way to extend their learning beyond the core AgriSchool and gain further practical experience in an area directly connected to layer performance and feed efficiency.
Supporting the future of Asia’s layer industry
The 2026 Layer Nutrition, Production & Management AgriSchool demonstrated the value of combining international expertise, practical application and cross-market knowledge exchange to address the increasingly complex demands of modern egg production.
With professionals from nine countries and specialists from different areas of the layer industry, the program created a platform for participants to strengthen their knowledge, exchange experiences and identify practical opportunities for improving their own operations.
Progressus will continue developing its AgriSchool programs to support the ongoing professional development of agricultural professionals across Asia.
