Alfredo Navarro de Andrade is the Brazil consultant for the U.S. Grains Council, a nonprofit organization that promotes the use of U.S. barley, corn and sorghum and related products worldwide. In this capacity, Andrade is responsible for the management of the Council’s market development program and office operations in Brazil.
Prior to joining the Council, Dr. Andrade was owner and chief executive officer of Agrodata, a company that specializes in developing softwares and turn-key projects for agricultural undertakings. Dr. Andrade also served as President of Varig Agropecuaria, a farming company with over 300,000 acres of cropland.
Dr. Andrade received his bachelor’s degree in agricultural engineering from the Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He earned both a master’s degree in animal sciences and a doctorate in animal nutrition from Purdue University in Lafayette, Ind. During his years at Purdue University, he had his academic performance recognized by being made a member of the Gamma Sigma Delta, Phi Kappa Phi and Sigma XI Honorary Societies. In 1993, Purdue University honored him with a Distinguished Agriculture Alumnus Award.
Dr. Andrade was also a full professor of animal nutrition at the School of Veterinary Medicine of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro State for 25 years.
