GLYADD®: a reliable source of organic minerals

GLYADD®: a reliable source of organic minerals

Trace minerals or micro-minerals, along with vitamins, are part of the group of micronutrients. These are required in small quantities for proper physiological processes to develop.

An insufficient intake of these minerals in the diet can lead to delays in growth, reproductive disorders, immunodeficiencies, loss of appetite, and other problems that affect both the productive performance and the health of the animal.

The risks of a micromineral deficiency can be increased in intensive production systems where formulation adjustments, low variability in raw materials, and interactions between different mineral sources necessitate considering the actual availability for higher requirements.

GLYADD®

LIPTOSA, a European manufacturer, provides a reliable supply of organic minerals through its GLYADD® product line. These minerals are obtained through the chelation process, where a metal and an amino acid combine, resulting in a notable enhancement of mineral bioavailability.GLYADD®

Chelation refers to the creation or existence of bonds between multiple distinct binding sites within a single ligand and a central atom (IUPAC, 1994).

In the reaction with amino acids, the carboxyl group forms an ionic bond with the cation, while the alpha-amino group donates a pair of electrons to a vacant d orbital of the metal ion, thus forming a coordinated covalent bond. The coordination number is responsible for providing spatial structure to the chelates (Course CESFAC, M. Gorrochategui 2022).

They are defined according to the AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials) and, for comparison purposes in the EU, as specific Metal-Amino Acid complexes (metal glycinate hydrate in the EU). All chelates are complexes, but not all complexes are chelates.

Our quality control system at LIPTOSA for the manufacturing of chelated minerals guarantees the highest product quality with EU standards.

Chelates have stability constants capable of allowing the metallic ions to be released and transferred to the animal’s biological system (Hynes and Kelly, 1995).

GLYADD®

We produce chelated minerals with the amino acid glycine (glycinates). The use of glycine as a chelating agent allows for a more stable chelation process, providing optimal bioavailability due to its low molecular weight, as well as more concentrated products. It offers the following advantages over inorganic mineral sources:

Thanks to the increased mineral bioavailability of GLYADD® products, the following benefits are achieved:

GLYADD® product series:

At LIPTOSA, we have pure and defined sources of organic minerals, and we offer a complete range of mineral premixes specifically formulated according to the requirements of each species and their production stage. Glyadd® products are certified under FAMI-QS, ensuring a high level of safety for feed components. Promoting the breeding of healthy and productive animals.
