Advanced Dairy Production and Management AgriSchool 2026: Turning knowledge into practical dairy farm solutions
Progressus successfully concluded the Advanced Dairy Production and Management AgriSchool 2026, held from 27-29 October 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand.
The three-day intensive training brought together dairy professionals from Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Thailand, creating an international learning environment for professionals committed to improving dairy production and farm performance.

Participants came from diverse professional backgrounds, including dairy farm owners, farm managers, veterinarians, and nutritionists. This diversity encouraged valuable discussions and experience sharing, allowing participants to learn not only from industry experts but also from the practical experiences of their peers.
This year’s program took a more advanced and hands-on approach, building on fundamental dairy production knowledge while introducing a dedicated feed formulation workshop using Rumen8 software.
Led by experienced dairy professionals Peter Robson and Pietro Celi, the training focused on helping participants understand the science behind dairy nutrition and develop practical strategies to address common production challenges.
A key highlight was the feed formulation workshop, where participants explored nutrient requirements throughout the dairy cow’s life cycle, ingredient selection, nutrient balance, and ration formulation. Through practical exercises with Rumen8, they gained a deeper understanding of how to evaluate feed ingredients and formulate balanced rations based on scientific principles rather than relying on random ingredient selection.
As Mr Robson explained, the objective was to help participants understand not only what to feed dairy cows, but also why and how feeding decisions should be made. By using formulation software, participants could approach ingredient selection and ration development more scientifically, gaining in-depth knowledge they can take back to their farms to improve existing rations and feeding strategies.

Another major focus was heat-stress management, one of the significant challenges facing dairy production across Asia. Led by Mr Celi and Mr Robson, the sessions explored both the visible and less obvious impacts of heat stress on dairy cows, including reduced feed intake, declining milk production, impaired rumination, and reproductive performance.
Participants learned practical nutritional and feeding strategies to help farms cope with hot and humid conditions. Topics included increasing nutrient density, prioritizing digestible fiber, balancing protein levels, managing electrolytes and water intake, and maintaining rumen stability. The discussions emphasized the importance of developing feeding strategies that respond to the specific challenges and conditions faced by dairy farms across the region.
Beyond nutrition, the program also included case study discussions and practical exercises, encouraging participants to identify common dairy farm challenges and explore possible solutions. Topics included reproductive performance, ketosis, milk fever, mastitis, milk quality, and rumen health. These discussions allowed participants to exchange ideas and develop practical approaches that they could apply to their own farm operations.
Equally valuable was the opportunity to connect with fellow dairy professionals from different countries. Participants exchanged experiences and discovered how feed ingredients, availability, and feeding practices can differ significantly between regions. Understanding these differences offered fresh perspectives and highlighted the importance of learning from one another when developing effective farm management strategies.
Through a combination of advanced technical sessions, practical workshops, case-based learning, and regional knowledge exchange, the AgriSchool provided participants with valuable insights and tools to take back to their farms.
