Progressus Aqua Feed Milling Management AgriSchool Returns to Bangkok in 2026

The workshop challenged participants to identify potential factors affecting feed mill capacity, examine sources of raw material and finished-feed losses, and consider how maintenance and energy management can influence production performance and feed quality.

From understanding the process to improving the performance

Building on that experience, the 2026 Aqua Feed Milling Management AgriSchool has been developed with a stronger focus on the technical and operational decisions that directly affect feed mill performance.

The program continues to cover the fundamentals of feed mill design, process flow, raw material handling, grinding, batching and mixing, conditioning, pelleting, extrusion, drying and cooling. However, the 2026 program goes further into the technologies and practical challenges behind these processes.

Participants will explore particle size reduction and fine grinding, including hammer mill setup, air-swept pulverisers, troubleshooting and the relationship between grinding performance and downstream processing.

The program also provides a more detailed focus on extrusion equipment and operations for both shrimp and fish feeds, including twin-screw versus single-screw extruders, screw configurations, pre-conditioning and common extrusion problems.

Another important area in 2026 is moisture management and post-extrusion processing. Participants will examine moisture loss and gain, its financial and physical impact on shrinkage, moisture measurement, drying performance and cooling processes.

The program also introduces a stronger management and future-oriented perspective, including feed mill digitalization and smart feed mills, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), energy measurement, capacity measurement, feed mill design and construction, cost of ownership, operational budgets, CAPEX planning and KPI development.

Learning inside a working feed mill

The field experience remains one of the defining elements of the AgriSchool.

On November 19, participants will return to TRF Feedmill for a full-day practical experience. Rather than simply touring the facility, participants will undertake guided process observations and practical group tasks, followed by workshops and group presentations with the facilitators and TRF team.

This approach allows participants to look beyond individual machines and consider the feed mill as an interconnected production system — from raw material handling and grinding through processing, energy use, efficiency, maintenance and final feed quality.
